Instagram Extends Reels to 90 Seconds and Offers New Tools

Instagram has recently announced that the platform will be offering a bunch of new features designed specifically for creators using the Reels functionality to engage with their audience.
Creators can now take advantage of an expanded library of sound effects such as drums, air horns, crickets, and others, with which they can add a little more twist to their Reels. Furthermore, Instagram users will also be able to use their own audio for commentary and background noises. The Import Audio feature takes an existing video from the camera roll (at least five seconds long) and imports the audio from it directly into Reels.
Another exciting novelty is interactive stickers, which are now available for Reels creators rather than Stories users alone. In addition, content creators on Instagram will be able to launch polls and invite their audience to share what they are interested to see next or initiate fun interactive quizzes among their subscribers. Of course, videos will have an emoji sticker slider to allow the viewer to react to the content with emojis.
To place even more value on the new offerings, Instagram is lengthening the time limit for its Reels videos from just one minute to 90 seconds. The social media platform hopes the change will give creators more flexibility in choosing the best way to interact with their viewers. While 90 seconds is still a relatively brief time compared to TikTok’s 10 minutes per uploaded clip, with Reels 1.5 minutes long, creators will have more opportunities to present some unique content, behind-the-scene montage, and whatever else they feel will appeal to the audience.
Which of the new Instagram features do you like the best? Do you think your Reels-creating experience will improve with the new functionality? Speak up in the comments and share this news with others!
