Over the recent weekend, Microbird, an Austrian game developer, unveiled a new trailer for their much-anticipated dungeon-crawler game, Dungeons Of Hinterberg, scheduled for a summer release. This sneak peek provided a deeper look into the various dungeon atmospheres within the game, beyond the previously showcased mountainous and glacial terrains. Among these, a vibrant green swamp stands out, raising questions about its potential hazards.
As Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree, with its confirmed toxic swamp, is also set to launch on June 21st, it appears that the season will be rife with swampy adventures. Yet, the bright and colorful tone of Dungeons Of Hinterberg suggests a less menacing nature for its Brunnelsumpf area, despite the swamp’s intense green hue hinting at possible toxicity. The game seems to hint at a healthier aquatic environment possibly thriving with algae, rather than embracing a conventional poisonous setting, especially considering the vividly colored surroundings.
The beauty of Brunnelsumpf is undeniable, with captivating visuals encompassing stone ruins, wooden docks, and distinctive lighthouses, which seem to play a pivotal role in the region's puzzle aspects. A scene from the trailer hints at a lighthouse illuminating a beam towards a rocky area, reminiscent of puzzle-solving in games like The Talos Principle 2, but combined with engaging combat against various creatures.
Microbird has teased that Dungeons Of Hinterberg features four unique biomes, each housing numerous dungeons ripe for exploration. Alongside Brunnelsumpf, players can expect to explore the autumnal forests of Hinterwald and the frosty landscapes of Kolmstein, which promises exciting ice skateboard mechanics. As the game’s release draws nearer, anticipation builds for the unveiling of the final, yet-to-be-revealed biome, promising a rich and diverse gaming experience filled with mystery, adventure, and vibrant worlds to explore.
